LONG JOURNEY: Paul Lamb has just ended a 3600km bike ride to Perth.

PAUL Lamb has conquered road trains, raging winds and thousands of kilometres to ride from Bendigo to Perth in aid of men’s health. The 60-year-old made the journey, along with friend Lesley Barkla, to spruik the benefits of pure foods and simple exercise.“The most enjoyable part of the trip was when on a number of days we got tail winds and I was able to average about 200 kilometres a day,’’ Mr Lamb said.“But the traffic was very dangerous; there were lots of road trains and the shoulder of the road isn’t hard, so when I heard one coming I had to get off my bike and wait for them to go past.’’Mr Lamb hasn’t been put off riding by the 3600 kilometre trip, but conceded he would rethink his route.“I wouldn’t do Bendigo to Perth again, because of the traffic, not the distance.“I do endurance riding and I’ll certainly continue to do that, but I won’t ride major city to major city again.’’
