More than 50 people attended Women’s Health Loddon Mallee’s ‘Eat, Share Learn’ lunch on Tuesday.
WHLM’s Makenna Bryon said the event aimed to engage and educate the Greater Bendigo and surrounding communities about the link between gender inequality and violence against women.
Gender inequality creates the necessary social context for violence against women.
Ms Bryon said the event highlighted the fantastic work happening in the region to promote gender equity.
Presenters included the Strathfieldsaye CFA, Communities 4 Children, the Campaspe Co-Design Gender Equity Project and The Rural Challenge.
The function formed part of the Victoria Against Violence campaign and coincided with the United Nation’s 16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence.
