EXHIBITIONS
MRS LARRITT IN UPSIDE-DOWN COUNTRY
This Catherine Pilgrim exhibition celebrates the role and early married life of Maggie Larritt and acknowledges the European view of colonial migrants as they lived on Dja Dja Wurrung land.
Pilgrim is a Castlemaine based visual artist who has been exhibiting broadly for more than 20 years. Her work is in collections including the National Gallery of Australia, Geelong Regional Art Gallery and more.
The narrative of Mrs Larritt in early Bendigo is one of optimism. She was nurturing her family as her husband mapped the streets downstairs. Yet she was not at home, she was a Scottish immigrant with little support and the goldfields were difficult.
Many of the drawings in the exhibition remind that this European view of Maggie and her community was only one perspective of “upside-down” Dja Dja Wurrung land.
Where: Dudley House, View Street, Bendigo.
When: Until Sunday, November 25, noon – 6pm or by appointment.
EMBROIDERY EXHIBITION

This year, more than 500 exhibits in many varied techniques will be an inspiration to all. There will be traditional techniques on linen, wool embroidery, ribbon, lace, beading, covered boxes, wearable art and much more.
There will also be a sale of vintage pieces of lace, doilies and cloths. A raffle of related items and 15 other prizes is also an attraction.
