What a night
Something amazing happened in Bendigo on Saturday night. White Night was actually something more than it seemed. The buildings of our city were painted in fantasmagorical hues, so rich and vibrant, it felt as though you were in a dream.

The atmosphere was so positively charged with families experiencing a safe, open, free-form environment. It felt like a blessing upon the city. I certainly hope that White Night returns for 2019. I have a funny feeling that this event is actually just a clever way of enlightenment sneaking up on the masses. Next year, be sure to don your fairy lights and glow sticks, there's plenty of space to Participate, and not just speculate. Such. Fun. :)

Bendigo is the perfect place for White Night. The centre of the city converts really well to a public plaza, with cafes, galleries and historic buildings all seamlessly part of it. The logistics of street closures and public transport worked really well, and every official I encountered was friendly and doing a good job, right down to the queue wranglers and bus drivers who ferried us away at the end of the evening. All this and a really friendly crowd made it a fun night out. Bravo, please come again.

A new PM – again
‘Australians all let us rejoice’ are words now under threat
The antics by those elected have caused many much regret
Why did we put that mob in charge of our country’s future path?
Its now become quite obvious that they couldn’t run a bath
Our country ‘abounds in natures gifts of beauty rich and rare’
But the actions of those elected suggest, they focus on elsewhere
A shambles, crisis, national disgrace is how they’ve been described
And that should be their epitaph, on their headstones so inscribed
And In history’s page this shameful stage will never be forgotten
It only takes one bad apple to have the rest thrown out as rotten
For he who promised so much more than was ultimately delivered
The best Prime Minister we never had left supporters lost and livid
Our national song reverberates ‘We’ve boundless plains to share’
But the drought has cast a shadow on what we can do out there
Our cities are congested and have lost their Australian style
And Real Estate and living costs hardly make it all worthwhile
The new bloke needs to have the goods to ‘Advance Australia Fair’
But his record with the banking lot make their tax cuts seem unfair
With a record bruised and tainted his task would seem immense
So to have the means to lead us all, choose one side of the fence!
‘In joyful strains then let us sing’ and voice our real concerns
We need to have a Vision beyond the media’s twists and turns
Stand up for all Australians and think beyond the next election
How will you make a difference, what is your real intention?
David Judge, Bendigo
