MORE COVERAGE: Your guide to Easter in Bendigo: Pictures, stories and more
Around $25,000 was raised for the Rotary Club of Bendigo through the Easter Art exhibition.
Rotary Club of Bendigo Easter art show coordinator Brian Figg said 175 pieces from local artists sold during the four-day exhibition, held in Bendigo town hall.
Funds raised will be dispersed among the Rotary club’s community and youth programs, Mr Figg said.
Resident artist Nicholas Truscott was teaching passers by the art of watercolour painting throughout the four days.
Do Noble won the award for best artwork, which was judged by local artist Geoff Paynter on Thursday.
Elsewhere, The Y Service Club’s Easter Book Sale was well into the $30,000 sales mark by Saturday.
Co-ordinator Larry Wust said the event, held at Tom Tweed Stadium in Mundy Street, was perennially popular despite the emerging digital environment.
“People just like having something in their hand,” he said, adding the club hoped to sell 20,000 books over the weekend.
