The man was the sole occupant of a vehicle that crashed and caught fire on the Burke and Wills Track at Baynton about 10am.
He suffered head, leg and burn injuries, and was airlifted to hospital.
UPDATE Friday 4.45pm: A man in his 20s was airlifted to the Alfred Hospital in a critical condition with head, leg and burn injuries following a crash at Baynton on Friday morning.
Paramedics were called to the scene on Burke and Wills Track at 10am with reports a car had crashed and was on fire.
The man was the only occupant of the car.
EARLIER: Paramedics are treating a man in a life threatening condition after a single vehicle crash and car fire on Burke and Wills Track at Baynton.
Emergency services were called to the scene at about 10am with reports a vehicle was on fire and a person had sustained serious injuries.
A spokesperson for Ambulance Victoria said paramedics are treating a man with head and leg injuries, and the Air Ambulance has been sent to the scene.
A spokesperson for Victoria Police said the car left the road and crashed before catching on fire. She said the driver was described as having sustained “life threatening” injuries.
He was believed to be the only occupant of the car.
The crash occurred near the intersection with Sidonia Road at Baynton, about 15 kilometres south of Mia Mia.
