About 5.45pm Tuesday, the man’s vehicle veered off the Bendigo-Maldon Road and rolled.
TUESDAY 7.12pm: Emergency services were called to the scene of a single car road accident on the corner of Maldon-Bendigo and Allans Roads in Maldon where a vehicle rolled onto its roof.
Senior Sergeant Peter Carey said at approximately 5.45pm a single vehicle travelling south towards Maldon veered off the road.
The male driver in his 20s was the only person in the car.
He was extracted from the vehicle and was then airlifted to Melbourne via the air ambulance with critical injuries.
“We will be investigating a range of different causes such as speed and fatigue,” Senior Sergeant Carey said.
The road has now reopened and will operate at reduced speeds.
