The $4.6 million Garden of the Future project will also see more than 30,000 trees planted in a space that will be ideal for picnicking, concerts and educational field trips.
The Garden for the Future is the biggest change to occur at the Bendigo Botanic Gardens White Hills since it was established in 1857.
Located next to Bendigo Creek between Bosquet and Hamelin streets in White Hills, one side of the new garden will feature international plants that can survive Australian conditions while the other will showcase native Australian plants.
It also features a grassed amphitheatre for outdoor performances and a number of semi-intimate gathering spaces for functions.
City of Greater Bendigo mayor Margaret O’Rourke will unveil the Garden of the Future on Sunday, April 22.
The free community event will feature local bands, food trucks, displays, tours and kids activities from 10am to 2pm.
