Deputy principal Jordan Ancrum said the Rights, Resliance and Respectful Relationships Program tackled community and family violence with lessons that broke down gender stereotypes.
As part of the program, students meet and discussed careers with men and women who were in “gender stereotyped” jobs.
Visitors included female police officers, firefighters, surgeons, electricians, scientists and farmers as well as a male nurse.
Mr Ancrum said he was impressed that many students brokedown gender stereotypes when drawing pictures of people in certain jobs.
“A number of families have parents who are police officers, so thy good idea around (females being police officers),” he said.
“There was an interesting conversation in the year 5 class where a lot of boys said only males can be surgeons. So it was important to find female surgeon, get her to visit and show that females can be surgeons.
“The key message was that no matter what gender you are, you can go into any role, follow your passions and do any job you want.”
