Residents first lost mobile reception on Monday last week, leaving the town’s BP without access to Eftpos and some residents without their primary source of communication.
A staff member at Elmore BP said phones had been on SOS mode, and the business had struggled during peak times.
“Having to use the dial-up method for Eftpos has been doing out heads in,” she said.
“Trying to get through the number of people we get at peak times has been difficult.”
Telstra’s area general manager for western Victoria Steve Tinker said 4G had been restored on Tuesday, and they were investigating the loss of 3G service.
“For the past week Telstra has been experiencing technical difficulties at a mobile base station site that provides 3G and 4G mobile coverage to Elmore,” Mr Tinker said.
“Local residents may have experienced a reduced level or a loss of mobile coverage during this time.
“Telstra apologises to affected residents and we hope to have full coverage returned as soon as possible.”
