The pair both rode doubles at Balnarring on Sunday, with Pace maintaining her two-win lead in the battle.
Pace, who is looking to defend her 2016-17 premiership, scored wins for Cranbourne trainer Julie Crosbie with Eco Road and her father Arthur Pace with Hay Handsome.
Lake notched an early winner aboard the Robert Kingston-trained mare Niamh Chinn Oir before adding another for the same trainer with Sommernachtstraum late in the day.
It was Lake’s second win this season with Sommernachtstraum following their victory in January’s $5000 Healesville Cup.
Pace leads the premiership race with 19 wins to Lake’s 17, with Grant Seccombe third on 10.
The picnic circuit heads to Woolamai this weekend for the sixth last meeting of the season.
