Just ask Heathcote.
The Saints were the lowest-placed of the Northern United Cricket Association finalists, ending the home and away season in fourth spot.
But after knocking off minor premier Elmore in the semi-final last week, the Saints charged to premiership glory on Saturday, defeating Bagshot by three wickets in the grand final.
Saturday’s victory at Elmore was the Saints’ third premiership in the six years since the club joined the NUCA after re-forming.
The Saints dismissed the Razorbacks – who won the toss and batted – for 92, with the strong bowling performance led by Brenton Conforti (4-20) and man-of-the-match Kyle Seidel (3-30), who took three of the first five wickets to fall.
Bagshot battled its way to 92 from a shaky 4-29 early in its innings, with skipper Matt Jeffries’ 22 the top score.
Heathcote took into the 35th over to reach 7-93 in reply, with veteran Shane Cox (11 n.o.) and Brayden Klemke (6 n.o.) at the crease when the premiership was won.
Saints’ opener Ben Harris made the game’s highest score of 24 before his dismissal left Heathcote 3-45.
Kym Wheelhouse took the bowling honours for Bagshot with 3-13 off six overs.
