SOUTH Bendigo and Strathfieldsaye will fight to reach the Bendigo Tennis Association’s premier league grand final in Friday night’s semi at the William Loud complex.
Defeated just twice in the 14 rounds that have been played, South Bendigo will start favourite as it chases back-to-back titles on the Nolan Street hardcourts at 7pm.
In their only meeting in the home-and-away series, South Bendigo won five of six rubbers in a 12-game victory against Strathfieldsaye.
A talented South squad includes Jordan Hicks, Connor Gledhill, Michael and Brett Mulgrew, Grant, Tiahna and Ryan Leader.
Strathfieldsaye’s run to the semis was rocked in last Saturday’s 13-game loss to Spring Gully Words and Pictures Photography.
An experienced Strathfieldsaye line-up includes Aidan Fitzgerald, Michael Smyth, Nick Bath, Tova Penno, Casey Fleming and Lachlan Perdon.
BTC Cobras takes on Spring Gully Strath Eppalock Butterflies in the first semi-final.
For the defeated it’s season over.
In round five, Cobras won by five games as both teams won three rubbers apiece.
The Cobras squad which includes Jack Baker, Jono Guy, Frank Ryan, Raschelle Blencowe and Heather Robbins has a win-loss tally of 9-5.
