Lowering the fee to $29 resulted in the adoption of 25 cats, 12 dogs, 17 kittens and a puppy in three days.
A total of 634 animals were adopted statewide.
Cats and kittens were the most popular new pets, at a combined total of 515 adoptees.
Eighty-nine dogs and three puppies found new homes, as did 19 rabbits.
A fowl was adopted from the Peninsula shelter, while two rodents and five guinea pigs were rehomed at Burwood East.
“Our team celebrates every successful adoption, so we are obviously thrilled that we have been able to rehome such a large number of animals,” RSPCA Victoria chief executive Dr Liz Walker said.
“We are extremely grateful to have the support of the Victorian community and we are very thankful for the patience and tolerance potential adopters displayed during the incredibly busy weekend.”
She encouraged anyone interested in adoption to visit rspcavic.org.
