Words and Pictures played brilliantly under the William Loud complex lights in Nolan Street to score a 4-9-52 to 2-7-56 victory.
The defeat was South Bendigo’s second of the season.
In the doubles, Carl Hardingham and Rob Gallagher lost to South stars Connor Gledhill and Grant Leader, 6-7 3-6.
The Gully struck back as Jayden Baber and Michael Nihill scored a 6-4 6-1 win against Mick and Brett Mulgrew.
Gledhill beat Carl Hardingham, 6-1 6-3, but the other singles doubles were won by a focussed Words and Pictures line-up.
Baber beat Mick Mulgrew, 2-6 6-4 7-6; Gallager won a great duel with Leader, 3-6 6-4 7-6; and Nihill won 6-0 4-6 7-6 against Brett Mulgrew.
Strathfieldsaye won all six rubbers in a 12-72 to 2-53 result against Spring Gully Strath Eppalock Butterflies.
Highs for Strathfieldsaye included a 5-7 6-3 10-3 win for Fitzgerald in the singles clash with Matt Hartland.
Michael Smyth scored a 6-3 7-5 win against Jamie Brown, and Nick Bath fought on to score a 7-6 3-6 10-6 victory against Jacob Grieves.
After a 7-6 win in the opening set, Casey Fleming achieved a 6-2 result in the second against Bronwyn Osborne.
The doubles ended in a 6-3 7-5 win for Fitzgerald-Smyth against Hartland-Brown, and Bath-Fleming scored a 6-4 6-3 win against Grieves-Osborne.
Taipans outplayed Growl Weightlifting in the battle of the BTC clubmates. The Taipans won five of six rubbers in a 10-67 to 2-44 result.
Ryan Michell defeated Sam Storer, 6-3 6-2; and Sam Pinnuck played well in a 6-4 6-3 win against Alex Neave.
Bree Smith scored a 6-2 6-3 win against Adelaide Annand; and Jordy Francis beat Toby Howlett, 6-4 6-2. The sole rubber won by Growl Weightlifting was a 6-4 6-2 win by Storer-Neave against Michell-Pinnuck. Francis and Smith teamed up for a 7-6 6-3 win against Annand and Howlett.
BTC Cobras scored a 32-game win against Castlemaine. The Jack Baker-led Cobras did not concede a rubber or set on their way to a 75-43 victory.
Baker beat Brad Reeves, 7-6 6-4; Jono Guy outplayed Nathan Mitchell, 6-2 7-6; Frank Ryan scored a 6-3 6-3 win against David Carre; and Heather Robbins defeated Lincoln Fitzgerald, 6-2 7-5.
Baker-Robbins beat Reeves-Carre in straight sets, and Ryan-Guy did the same to Mitchell and Fitzgerald.
The Quest Bendigo-backed division one pennant was on Saturday at Bendigo Lawn Tennis Club in Barnard Street.
Spring Gully Net Assets defeated BTC Infants, 7-67 to 3-64.
Spring Gully Panthers clawed its way to a 7-68 to 3-59 victory against BTC Stingers.
Axedale won 5-68 to 5-65 against Spring Gully Phoenix.
