The LCMS has selected South Sudanese community leader Rebecca Wuor to be the “face” of the festival.
LCMS executive officer Kate McInnes said Zinda Festival would this year highlight South Sudanese culture.
“As well as having Rebecca as the face of the festival, we will have South Sudanese food and music as part of the Zinda Night in the Park event,” she said.
“The South Sudanese community are a small but vibrant community with a rich culture to share. Zinda Festival will be an opportunity for everyone to experience this culture.”
Rebecca Wuor said she was proud to represent and showcase her culture.
“I am very happy to be on the first Zinda poster. Bendigo is a great place to live and it is wonderful to be working on Zinda Festival with all of my new friends,” she said.
The main event for the festival is Night in the Park, held on Saturday March 17 from 5pm-9pm in Rosalind Park.
Zinda Festival will run from March 16-21 and celebrates multicultural music, food and art from Bendigo.
