Bendigo Highway Patrol Sergeant Geoff Annand said two 16-year-old males and a 14-year-old males were look at a number of possible charges including theft of a motor vehicle and theft of a number plate.
“They could also be looking at charges related to a number of thefts in Maryborough and the traffic offences related to the accident (on Friday),” he said.
UPDATE 12:18pm: Police have confirmed the arrest of three teens on Napier Street this morning was related to an earlier two-vehicle crash roughly 500 metres up the road.
The teens are being interviewed in relation to theft of one of the motor vehicles involved in the crash at the intersection of Napier and Lyons streets, and the collision itself.
Police investigations are ongoing.
UPDATE 11.30am: Bobs Street resident Chris Allison saw the excitement in White Hills this morning unfold outside his home.
“There was a gentleman in a high-vis vest who was chasing three kids up over onto the quarry and there were two cars parked that had been in an accident,” he said.
“Then of course the police arrived and I’ve just arrived at work 500 metres away and it looks like they’ve caught them, which is good news.”
He said a number of parked cars drew his attention to the window where he subsequently saw the gentleman in pursuit of the young people.
“The guy in the vest was just sort of trying to keep track of them,” Mr Allison said.
“They were just sort of sloping off into the distance.”
Police have called for anyone with information about a two-car crash at the intersection of Napier Street and Lyons Street to call the Bendigo Police Station on 5448 1300.
UPDATE 10.45am: Three teenagers have been arrested in Napier Street, opposite Lake Weeroona.
Police say the arrest was related to a criminal investigation into the theft of a motor vehicle.
UPDATE 10.30am: Witnesses have said three people fled the scene of the crash on foot in White Hills.
Police at the scene have confirmed they are searching for three “youths”, believed to be the occupants of one of the cars.
The driver of the sedan that came to a rest near the pole has been taken to Bendigo Health with minor injuries.
Anyone who witnessed the crash is urged to contact Bendigo police on 5448 1300.
EARLIER: Emergency services are at the scene of a crash in White Hills.
Traffic has been reduced to one lane on Napier Street, heading towards Bendigo, and on Lyons Street as emergency services respond.
Police, paramedics and CFA are in attendance and there are two cars involved, both burgundy sedans.
One car has crashed into a pole, the other has a smashed front end.
Paramedics are attending to a man who was in one of the vehicles.
Police have also blocked off the right tuning lane from Napier Street into Lyons Street.
