Taipans take on Castlemaine at the Bendigo Lawn Tennis Club in Barnard Street from 1pm.
After another drawn clash because of a washout, Taipans is 5 ½ points behind the fourth-placed Spring Gully Strath Eppalock Butterflies on the premiership ladder.
Taipans played brilliantly to end South Bendigo’s winning run just over two weeks ago.
Fortunes of Taipans and Castlemaine will depend greatly on who is available.
In terms of win-loss tally in singles rubbers, Taipans best have been Cameron Lilburn, 7-1; Ryan Brook, 7-3; and Dom Barton, 7-4.
Castlemaine defied the odds to upset the second-placed Strathfieldsaye last round.
A talented Castlemaine squad includes Isaac Watson, Brad Reeves and David Carre.
The ladder-leading South Bendigo takes on the third-placed BTC Cobras.
On a 10-1 record and points tally of 80, South Bendigo has set the pace this season.
Key players in South’s run have included Jordan Hicks, Michael Mulgrew and Grant Leader.
The Cobras have had Jono Guy rack up a 7-2 record in singles.
The BTC line-up has a 7-4 record, 62 ½ points and cannot be ruled out of achieving a top-two finish.
Strathfieldsaye, 9-3 and 71 points, is in Cobras’ sights.
Stung by last week’s loss at Castlemaine’s courts, Strathfieldsaye will be fired up against BTC Growl Weightlifting.
A formidable Strathfieldsaye squad includes Aidan Fitzgerald, the only player unbeaten in singles rubbers this season, as well as Michael Smyth, Tova Penno and Nick Bath.
The Sam Storer-led Weightlifting line-up has a 2-8 record and faces another difficult assignment.
Spring Gully Words and Pictures Photography takes on Spring Gully Strath Eppalock Butterflies.
The Matt Hartland-led Butterflies have a 6-5 record and 60 points ahead of another big game.
The Quest Bendigo-backed division one pennant is on Saturday from 1pm at the William Loud complex in Nolan Street.
Panthers face Phoenix in the all-Spring Gully clash, and Axedale takes on Spring Gully Net Assets.
Infants meet Stingers in the battle of the BTC clubmates.
Ladder: Spring Gully Phoenix 8-4, 108 pts; Spring Gully Panthers 9-3, 104 pts; Axedale 7-5, 100 pts; BTC Infants 5-6, 82 pts; BTC Stingers 5-6, 81 pts; Spring Gully Net Assets 1-11, 45 pts.
