There will be a free tai chi event outside the Bendigo Library on Thursday evening to celebrate Chinese New Year.

“It’s a celebration of the Chinese New Year of the Earth Dog and we do it to promote wellness and the traditional culture of new year in Bendigo,” Mr Lee said.

“The movement is quite gentle as well, regardless of age and physical capacity, anyone can do it and get better, gain more clarity of your thoughts and better body coordination.”

“The movement is quite slow and so it helps people to focus, it is like moving mediation.”

The tai chi demonstration will take place after a traditional dragon awakening performed by the Central Victorian Lion Team.

The tai chi event commences at 6pm on the grassed area between the Bendigo Library and the Town Hall.
