DAVE McDonald has been appointed coach of the Bendigo Fighting Miners rugby union club this year.

A native of New Zealand, McDonald has been a player with the Fighting Miners since 2014, originally as a flanker before being converted into a half-back to suit the needs of the club.
McDonald was elevated to team captain halfway through last season. He also won the club award for the most consistent player in 2017, as well as the Sonny Bates Medal for top points scorer.
He has played 62 games for the Fighting Miners and was a member of the club’s 2015 premiership team.
Off the field the Fighting Miners have reappointed Greg Spedding as club president.
Other members of the executive are vice president Gary Valente, secretary Mal Goldsworthy and treasurer Bill Coulter.
