BENDIGO’S Lucas Herbert has finished in third position in the World Super 6 tournament played Lake Karrinyup Country Club, Perth

Herbert fell short in his crack at making it through to the final when he lost his semi-final match-up against Thailand’s Kiradech Aphibarnrat on the first extra hole on Sunday.

Herbert’s defeat to Aphibarnrat put him into the third-place playoff against England’s Sam Horsfield.

Herbert defeated Horsfield 3&1 to claim third place.

Aphibarnrat went on to defeat James Nitties 2&1 in the final.

Meanwhile, Aphibarnrat was full of praise for Herbert after the pair played in the same group earlier in the tournament.

“He's just such a great player, he's got a bright future.  A lot of great players in the field and it was a really good experience playing with the kid.  I mean, when we were walking around, I was saying the last six years I think I can hit long as you, but now I believe you are strong,” Aphbarnrat told PGA Media.

Herbert’s third-place finish came a week after he earned a full card on the China PGA Tour Series for 2018
