Highly-respected artist Carolyn Eskdale, who grew up in Bendigo, has spent time on site at the View Street venue to develop a suite of photographs and a large sculpture.
Sydney artist Agatha Gothe-Snape will also be presenting artwork on the façade of the building and has instructed the curatorial staff to say her text piece every time they answer the phone.
The exhibition is called Infrastructuralism as a play on the overuse of –isms in the art world.
A sense of humour and playfulness runs across much of the work, and sees art spilling out from the white walls into other parts of the Institute.
The show is on now at the La Trobe Art Institute, from 5.30 to 7pm and is free and open to all.
