Bendigo Thunder, Kangaroo Flat, Kyneton, North Bendigo and Strathfieldsaye have been officially accepted into the league, which will begin in late April.
Expressions of interest for other clubs to participate in the competition will remain open until February 28.
AFLCV last year ran a joint senior women’s competition with AFL Goulburn Murray – won by the Bendigo Thunder – but both regions will run separate leagues this season.
As well as the Thunder’s development team, Kyneton and North Bendigo were also part of last year’s Northern Country Women’s League with the Goulburn Murray teams.
“The introduction of the competition is a great outcome and further demonstrates the massive growth in opportunities for women to play football,” AFLCV regional manager Carol Cathcart said on Thursday.
“There is no doubt the success of our junior female competitions over the past few years, combined with the success of AFLW, has greatly assisted the competition coming to life.”
The season will begin on Sunday, April 29.
A round-robin pre-season tournament, also involving teams from the AFL Goulburn Murray region, will be held at Rochester on Sunday, April 15.
