Firefighters were called to the scene in Weeroona Avenue shortly before 3am, finding a small grass fire burning near the railway line.
It took about 30 minutes to extinguish the blaze.
Yesterday, firefighters also faced several fires along the Calder Freeway near Kyneton.
Initially, those blazes were treated as suspicious, but it was subsequently revealed they were not deliberately lit.
The fire danger rating in Bendigo, and across the rest of the Northern Country forecast district, is very high on Wednesday.
It is also very high in the North Central district, while in the Central district it is high.
The region is still subject to the fire danger period, during which time there are restrictions to fire and related activities and permits are required for burn-offs.
Heavy penalties can apply to those who do not abide by the restrictions.
