Emergency services were called to Wood Street, Long Gully, just after 5pm following reports a car had crashed into Champions Supa IGA.
Police believe the vehicle the man was driving also hit a parked car.
SES, CFA, Ambulance and Victoria Police units responded.
The driver was assisting police with their inquires.
Damage to the supermarket building was being assessed.
