The Discovery Science & Technology Centre will hold its annual Science Sizzle event this weekend.
Alissa Van Soest science communicator said children at the event will learn about the superpowers of water, they will make their own water-powered boats and have an opportunity to see the planetarium show.
“We will also have a liquid nitrogen show where the kids will cool down and learn about all the amazing powers of liquid nitrogen and we will make ice cream with its awesome freezing powers,” Miss Van Soest said.
“They will be learning about how liquid nitrogen actually boils at -196 degrees Celsius and that when things are super-frozen they usually become very brittle.”
“The liquid nitrogen show will explore its super-freezing power.”
“Kids are always amazed, liquid nitrogen is such an amazing substance. Whether they’re kids or adults the concept that things can freeze so rapidly...blows everyone’s mind.”
There will be volunteers operating a barbecue at the event and the menu for the day will include Bunsen burgers, interstellar snags and their spectacularly cool liquid nitrogen ice cream.
The event starts at 10am on January 27 at the Discovery Science & Technology Centre Bendigo.
