The tournament was held at the Bendigo Stadium as a pre-cursor to the Bendigo Basketball Association’s Junior Classic that tips off later this week.
Five teams contested the wheelchair event, with the Bendigo Braves Blue and Gold joined by Kilsyth’s Chargers, Vipers and Wheelie Specials sides.
The final was contested between the Chargers and Wheelie Specials, with the Chargers coming out on top.
While neither Bendigo teams made the final, the Braves did have the tournament’s most valuable player in Jontee Brown – also a member of the Australian Under-23 Spinners team.
“All players did well on what was a hot day and no one succumbed to the heat of the day,” Bendigo Wheelchair Braves team manager Mark Logan said.
“The crowds sat through a warm day and were given a great show of athleticism and stamina.”
The Bendigo Wheelchair Braves train on Tuesdays from 5pm to 6pm for beginners and development training, and from 6pm to 7pm for experienced players.
