It’s the Bendigo District Cricket Association’s Twenty20 competition, which for the past 10 seasons has made its mark on the association’s calendar.
The BDCA introduced the Twenty20 format in 2008-09 and over the following 10 seasons it has provided clubs with an extra piece of silverware to target
It has also offered clubs with the opportunity to blood younger players, provide captaincy opportunities for new players and introduce marquee players into Bendigo cricket – Golden Square’s including Zimbabwe all-rounder Solomon Mire, Victorian paceman Ryan Sidebottom and even AFL star Eddie Betts (he made 5 against Eaglehawk in 2012-13).

Golden Square claimed the first Twenty20 title with a six-wicket win over Eaglehawk at the QEO in what was the first leg of the double for Square, which later in the 2008-09 season also won the first XI flag.
Earlier, Square, Eaglehawk, Kangaroo Flat, Strathdale-Maristians and Bendigo United had been the winners on the first night of the competition, with the new format attracting good first-up crowds.
Throughout the 10 seasons Strathdale-Maristians is the only club to have won the Twenty20 title more than once.
The Suns have captured four T20 flags, including three in the first four seasons and in total have won 35 games. No other club has won more than 21.
Golden Square, Strathfieldsaye, Huntly-North Epsom, Bendigo, Bendigo United and White Hills last week have shared the other six T20 titles, while Sandhurst is the only club yet to have played in a grand final, which has become an annual fixture on the Wednesday night of Country Week at the QEO, regularly drawing a big and noisy crowd.
