Martin, who was tied with playing partner Matthew Millar at seven-under par heading up the 18th hole, made a six-foot bidie putt on the final green to win his home tournament.
"It's nice to win on my home course because it's never easy to come here and win,'' a relieved Martin said.
"There's expectaions on you that you should win because it's your home course, but it's not that easy.
"The course was in great condition and the field was strong, so I knew I'd have to play well to shoot a low enough score to win."
Martin opened with birdies at the first and second holes and then had to wait until the par-five ninth to secure his third birdie of the day.
Birdies on the 11th, 13th and 14th gave his round some momentum and he followed up with another birdie on the par-five 17th.
"I knew coming to the 18th that I was tied with Matthew Millar, but I didn't know that seven-under was the best score on course,'' Martin said.
"It was great to get a birdie on the 18th to win."
Martin's tee shot on 18 was in the light rough on the right hand side of the fairway.
He hit a low six iron for his approach to the green and his ball rolled nicely from the front edge to within six feet of the hole. He calmly made the putt to sign for a 63.
"It was nice for some putts to drop today,'' he added.
Martin, who has a personal best of 59 in a Saturday competition at Neangar Park, edged out Millar and Simon Hawkes by one shot.
David McKenzie and Adam Burdett tied for fourth at six-under par.
Bendigo professional Kris Mueck finished tied for 43rd at three-over par.
Martin’s win on Friday came five days after he earned his Asian Tour card in Thailand.
“Through the end of last year and the start of this year I feel as though I’ve played pretty solidly,’’ Martin said.
“Getting the Asian Tour card gives me more options to play throughout the year.”
Martin will spend this weekend at Creswick for the two-day Goldfields Super6 Pro-Am before heading to Torquay on Wednesday to play in the The Sands Pro-Am.
The $650,000 Victoria Open at 13th Beach from February 1-4 and the $1,750,000 World Super 6 in Perth from February 8-11 are the next big events on Martin’s schedule.
He’s unlikely to play in Asia until April.
