High temperatures will continue through Friday with the Bureau of Meteorology forecasting a top of 43 degrees.
Castlemaine will reach 42 degrees on Friday while Echuca is tipped for 43, Kyneton will reach 40 and Swan Hill could reach 45.
Temperatures will reach 38 degrees in Bendigo on Saturday and 36 degrees on Sunday with some possible rainfall in the evening.
BOM senior forecaster Dean Stewart said there will be some cloud cover as well as high temperatures over Victoria this weekend.
“The change will be relief in southern Victorian but as it moves to northern Victoria it will weaken with temperatures staying in the high 30s of low 40s across the weekend,” he said.
“The difference will be a lot more cloud cover across the state, isolated showers and the odd storm in parts of the state.
“Thunderstorm activity will be quite isolated with a chance of dry lightning in parts of northern Victoria.”
