Crews were called to Estia Health – formerly Lilley Lodge – on Black Street at 6.40am with reports of a strong smell of gas.
Firefighters used a gas detector to discover the source in the centre’s kitchen.
The Golden Square brigade used fans to remove the gas smell from the area.
Bendigo Fire Station senior station officer Darren Eenjes said the gas was shut down and workers will be on the scene today to determine the cause of the leak.
“A gas detector discovered the source which has been isolated,” he said.
No residents were evacuated.
Three trucks from Bendigo and one from Golden Square attended.
Estia Health has 73 beds at the Long Gully facility.
