The under-16 girls will play Metropolitan Inner East in the grand final at a date to be confirmed.
The under-14 girls qualified for Thursday’s grand final, but went down to Metropolitan South East Bayside in a gallant performance.
The under-18 boys suffered a shock quarter-final loss to Metropolitan Inner South East.
The under-16 girls advanced to the grand final after scoring two impressive T20 wins on Thursday.
Arnika McGregor was the star of the win over the Western Waves. The Shepparton product made a brilliant 59 not out off 51 balls as Northern Rivers (4-87) held off the Waves (7-50). Seymour’s Madison Albers claimed 2-5.
In the afternoon match, Lilly Bond smashed 69 not out off 60 balls to lead Northern Rivers (1-113) to an easy win over Metropolitan North West (8-81). Bendigo’s Cailin Green made 26 not out and added 105 for the second wicket with Bond. Mardie Hamilton was the pick of the bowlers, taking 2-14.
The under-14 girls played great cricket all week to advance to the grand final.
Kangaroo Flat’s Jasmine Nevins, Euroa’s Georgia Gall and Yea’s Ruby O’Dwyer had standout performances in the Northern Rivers (5-123) preliminary final win over Central Highlands (95).
Nevins made 40 retired and took 2-6, O’Dwyer made 41 retired and claimed 2-10, while Gall made 16 and had figures of 3-22.
In the grand final, Northern Rivers (3-95) lost by eight wickets to Metropolitan South East Bayside (2-96).
Gall top scored with 40 retired, while Yea’s Abby Christie added an unbeaten 31.
The under-18 boys were left to lament a missed opportunity in their quarter-final. After winning the toss and batting, the top seven batsmen all made a start, but none of them managed to score more than 40 and the team had to settle for a score of 194.
Andrew Poppa top scored with 38, skipper James Ryan made 36 and Jordan Cleeland 32.
The Rivers’ bowlers looked to have Metropolitan Inner South East under control midway through the innings, but a 74-run partnership for the fifth wicket changed the momentum of the game.
Metropolitan Inner South East scored the winning runs with five balls to spare.
Will Dundon (2-28) and Nick Gladman (2-40) were the most successful bowlers.
