A 33-year-old Cornella man was taken to hospital with burns.
The Clandestine Laboratory Squad raided two properties in the region, including one in Cornella, as part of an ongoing drug investigation.
Emergency services, including a Country Fire Authority hazardous material response unit, are at the Rushworth property following the incident.
A heavy police presence was guarding the entrance to the Clausen Road residence, from which four fire trucks and one ambulance were seen exiting this afternoon.
One man who later attempted to enter the property was arrested by police.
Paramedics on scene were wearing breathing masks.
Numerous other members of the drug lab squad arrived at the rural property at 4.30pm following the initial raid at 1.30pm.
