The January 31 event will be led by Mount Alexander Shire Council’s botanical gardens and urban horticulture team leader Gillian Miller.
The heritage-listed gardens contain native and exotic trees, formal garden beds, oak and elm avenues, Lake Joanna, the old tea rooms, a fountain and the creek.
The walk is part of Castlemaine District Community Health’s monthly walk series.
“The annual botanical gardens walk is a fun way to get active and meet new people in your community,” CDCH health promotion officer Liza Shaw said.
Ms Shaw said the walk was suitable for people of all ages and abilities, and would take about one hour.
The walk will begin at 10am on Wednesday, January 31, at the old tea rooms.
The walk will be cancelled in the event of heavy rain or a code red fire danger warning.
