Kaidan Davis and Alston Zhang became the first Christmas Day babies to be born at the new hospital.
Baby Kaidan came first and mother Jess said her and her partner’s first baby weighed in at 8.8 pounds.
“We weren’t expecting him to come on Christmas Day. We were at risk of preterm birth and were getting ready for a little baby,” she said.
Kaidan was in fact six days late.
Asked whether having a birthday on Christmas Day would be a good thing for her bub, Jess said it should be positive.
“I think if we make it good it will be great. Our family is big on Christmas so there’ll always be celebrations,” she said.
Jess thanked hospital staff for their support.
“I’m very grateful to the people who take time off from their family to stay here and help us. We have been taken care of really well,” she said.
“It’s hard being away from your family on Christmas.”
Meanwhile, baby Alston’s mother was recovering after a marathon 14-hour birth.
Despite the stress of delivery, father Louis Hong was enjoying getting to know his firstborn child.
“He’s a pretty quiet boy. He doesn’t cry much. We are being with him, and going bed and sleeping,” he said.
