Beaten in the number one and two singles, Butterflies won the other four rubbers on their way to a 43-game victory at Bendigo Lawn Tennis Club in Barnard Street.
Taipans started brilliantly as Ryan Michell and Ryan Brook beat Jamie Brown and Jacob Grieves respectively.
Both contests began with 6-0 victories for the Spring Gully aces, but it was the Taipans who reigned supreme in the tie-breakers.
From there it was the Butterflies who blitzed as Simon Kelly and Danielle Bowles scored straight-set wins against Dom Barton and Matilda Walsh.
The run kept on rolling in the doubles.
• Strathfieldsaye did not concede a rubber or set in its 74-28 win against Spring Gully Words & Pictures Photography.
Closest duel was in the number one singles as Michael Smyth scored a 7-5 6-3 win against Steven Hardingham.
Brandt Fleming, Nick Bath and Casey Fleming all played superbly in what rates as one of Strathfieldsaye’s best wins of the season.
The Flemings won a closely-fought duel with Jason Osewald and Som Monotti, 6-4 6-2.
• Castlemaine faced the daunting task against the unbeaten South Bendigo.
The ’Maine line-up tried hard, but South had all the answers in a 4-10-67 to 2-5-51 victory.
Highs for Castlemaine were the 3-6 7-5 10-2 win by Nathan Mitchell against Connor Gledhill, and a 7-5 2-6 10-5 result for David Carre against Grant Leader.
The winning streak for South star Jordan Hicks kept on rolling and Brett Mulgrew also played well.
• Cobras beat Growl Weightlifting in the battle of the BTC clubmates on the grass.
Jono Guy struck back from a 5-7 loss in the opening set against Sam Storer to then win 6-2 10-1.
Heather Robbins defeated Adelaide Annand, 6-1 6-2; and Clark Forbes scored a 7-6 6-4 win against Kealy Osewald.
Rashelle Blencowe won a great contest with Alex Neaves, 4-6 6-2 10-7.
