Bendigo is set for two uncomfortable days with a top of 40 degrees forecast on Monday, followed by 39 degrees on Tuesday.
We won’t get much relief overnight with a low of 24 degrees to fall between.
Victoria’s Chief Health Officer has also issued a heat health alert for the region, advising of temperature thresholds above which heat-related illness and mortality increases substantially.
The forecast districts included are the Mallee, north central, northern country and Wimmera.
Across the region, Kerang, Swan Hill and Birchip are set for the hottest temperatures with a top of 42 degrees on Monday and 41 degrees in Kerang on Tuesday and 40 degrees in Swan Hill and Birchip.
Echuca can expect 41 degrees on both days; Redesdale 38 on both days; Castlemaine 37 on both days; Maryborough 38 and 37; and Kyneton 35 and 36.
Over the weekend, expect a high of 32 degrees in Bendigo on Saturday, followed by 34 degrees for the Rosalind Park carols on Sunday.
Temperatures will dip towards the middle of the week, with a high of 29 forecast for both Wednesday and Thursday in the city.
The Department of Health and Human Services advises heat can cause illnesses such as heat cramps and heat exhaustion, which can lead to the life-threatening condition, heatstroke.
