The Bendigo rockers will host a launch gig at the Golden Vine for their second album Anywhere But Here.
Drummer Pete McMillan said the hometown show would be a lot of fun for the band.
“We launched the album while on tour in the UK and have since had shows in Melbourne and Sydney,” he said.
“But we love coming back and playing the Vine, which is our local watering hole. We will be keen to see some familiar faces, have a beer and have a laugh.”
Putting their second album was a familiar process for the Black Aces but not something they took for granted.
“We know the process but it is always a different experience,” McMillan said.
“Our previous album was at a studio we were familiar with. So we had to get a feel for that but after that we were pretty comfortable.
“We had started writing while on tour last year and kept honing songs during that period.
“When got back heads down and spent time rehearsing and coming up between 20 and 30 songs that got chopped down to the 11 on the album.”
Anywhere But Here was produced by Mark Optiz who has worked with famous Aussie rock bands including AC/DC, Rose Tattoo, The Angels, INXS and Cold Chisel.
McMillan said Optiz’s experience and knowledge was invaluable.
“Mark has worked lots of great bands, so the first day meeting him was a bit awe-inspiring,” McMillan said.
“But he was really good to work with. He is someone with that much experience that he knows exactly what he is doing and what wants to get the right sound.
“I’d like to think our sound has evolved a bit more (since our debut album in 2016) People can hear our influences and we have matured in terms of our lyrics.”
As well as a the new album Black Aces had highlights through the year on their UK tour.
The played on the main stage at the Hard Rock Hell Festival in Wales and got a personal shout out from Twisted Sister’s Dee Snyder.
“We had played at Hard Rock Hell Festival before but never on the main stage,” McMillan said.
“Dee Snyder was playing on the same night as us and had seen us before and tweeted about us which was great.
“It’s just a matter of keeping at it now and getting in front of as many people as we can – that’s the only way to grow as a band.”
Black Aces play the Golden Vine Hotel in Bendigo on Saturday, December 16, from 9pm. Entry is $10.
