GANNAWARRA Shire Council has appointed an interim chief executive officer, as Eric Braslis departs the role.

Director Corporate Services Tom O’Reilly will take on the role, which Mr Braslis vacates today to head up the Golden Plains Shire Council.

“I thank the councillors for their trust in my ability to fill this important role, and I am excited to continue working with councillors, staff and the community on the many projects and initiatives currently underway or in the pipeline for Gannawarra,” Mr O’Reilly said.

He has been part of the council since March 2016, having previously worked with Buloke Shire Council.

Previous employers include Metzke+Allen Chartered Accountants, in Shepparton, Goulburn Murray Water and Goulburn Valley Water

Mr O’Reilly sits on the board of Northern District Community Health and has competed in marathons as a runner.

“Council is pleased that Tom has accepted the leadership role for this period and we look forward to working with him to ensure the work of council continues without interruption over the coming weeks and months,” Gannawarra mayor, Brian Gibson, said.

The council expects to announce its new chief executive officer ‘in the coming weeks’.
