Senior station officer Jarrod Howlett said the resident had left in the morning to head in to town.
“It was all locked when we arrived. Firefighters had to forcibly enter the caravan,” he said.
“Caravan park workers raised the alarm. There was significant damage in the annex and smoke damage to the caravan. It was rendered unlivable.”
Police remained on the scene after CFA units left.
EARLIER: Emergency services are at the scene of a reported fire at the Central City Caravan Park in Golden Square.
Both firefighters and police are on scene and are focusing their efforts on a caravan with an annex attached.
The caravan park will close its doors at the end of this year after the business’ owners were unable to negotiate an extension of their lease.
Residents must vacate by December 29.
