East swimmers excel in state event

Bendigo East Swimming Club junior swimmers  impressed at the State Sprints held at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre.

The club was represented by 23 swimmers - Matthew Baxter, Hunter Boswell, Nicola Dalzell, Layla Day, Xavier Dole, Ella Downing, Harry Downing, Mila Grant, Veda Haines, Thomas Hawke, Hayley Jacobsen, Cameron Jordan, Emily Kearns, Nicholas Kearns, Lily-May Kirby, Zalli Lau, Ziggy Lau, Lincoln McKern, Nathan McKern, Aimee McMahon, Claudia Mountjoy, Varlee Nihill, Bryce Schubert, Kiara Verbeek, Georgia Waller, Sophie Waller.

East had swimmers make 10 individual finals, with three swimmers claiming medals. Cameron Jordan won gold in the 16-years boys 50m breatstroke, Layla Day collected one silver medal and two bronze medals in the 14-years girls event and Emily Kearns finished third in the 12-years girls 50m backstroke.
