The Cobras defeated Maiden Gully at home on Saturday, while the other three games ended in washed out draws.
Having gone into the game with just one win from the first six rounds, the Cobras resumed on Saturday at 3-40 in reply to Maiden Gully’s 122.
Maiden Gully gave itself a sniff of defending its score when it had Golden Gully 6-101 and then 7-109, but the Cobras wouldn’t be denied as they reached 163 to win by 41 runs.
It was an innings of plenty of starts for the Cobras, who had five players make between 20 and 22 – Jarrod Whelan (22), Kansas Varker (21), Jayden Russell (21), Josh Hutchinson (21) and Travis Eckardt (20).
The loss was the third in a row for Maiden Gully.
For the third time in the past four games Maiden Gully’s Rob Brown took four wickets as he finished with 4-25 and now has 18 scalps for the season.
Josh Sheehan had his best day of the season with the ball in taking 3-36.
Maiden Gully batted for 33 overs in its second innings, finishing at 4-148, with Jordan Beecham (52 n.o.) making an unbeaten half-century.

• Rain ended West Bendigo’s pursuit of ladder-leader Spring Gully’s 5-366 10 overs into day two with the Redbacks 2-42.
West Bendigo had started the day 1-27.
West Bendigo opener Travis O’Connell finished 24 n.o. and is now averaging 301.0 in his past three innings. With a total of 412, O’Connell is also the first player to surpass 400 runs for the season.
• There was no day two play in the match between Mandurang and Marong.
The Panthers – who have reached the halfway mark of the season winless – were defending 8-231.
• EVCA ladder:
