There have been concerns raised recently about the litter left behind at the reserve and the behaviour of some visitors.
Parks and natural reserves manager Debbie Wood said that while the council preferred visitors to natural reserves to take their rubbish away, it was decided it would be a good idea to put in a bin at Crusoe Reservoir because of the use it received.
The bin will not be in the reserve itself, but at the car park.
“So hopefully the people who don’t take their rubbish will at least take it to the bin,” Ms Wood said.
Currently, the ranger – who is on-site during the week – picks up any rubbish left behind each morning.
Ms Wood said there were also “good Samaritans” from the public who picked up litter.
In regards to the behaviour of some visitors, Ms Wood said the ranger would approach people displaying behaviour that might disturb others, if it was safe to do so.
She said that if the ranger felt there was a threat, he would call police.
It is also understood the council is considering approaching police and asking them to do more patrols at the reservoir on busy days.
