That was the result of the Bendigo Jockey Club’s committee election at Monday night’s Annual General Meeting.
Margot Falconer and Jack Lyons were re-appointed to the committee, while Sheppard lost out to high-profile businessman Banks.
“The BJC welcomes Paul Banks onto the committee, believing his diverse business background in advertising, property management and horse training will be a great asset to the club,’’ the BJC said in a statement.
“(The BJC) would also like to thank departing member Dane Sheppard for his contribution to the club and wish him well in the future.”
Margot Falconer was re-elected into the position of chair by unanimous vote for her third term, while vice-chair Rod Caldow and treasurer Greg Chapman were also re-elected into their previous committee positions.
“It is a great honour to be re-elected by the BJC members as well as my fellow committee members for a third successive term as chair,” Falconer said.
“I would like to sincerely thank Dane Sheppard for his continued support and service during his six-year tenure and also welcome Paul Banks to the committee, who I believe will bring a new skill set that will benefit our club greatly as we continue to progress.”
