The Bendigo Yacht Club, with the support of Australian Sailing, will host a free ‘Discover Sailing’ event at Lake Eppalock on Sunday, November 26.
The event is aimed at people with little to no experience of sailing.
Bendigo Yacht Club commodore Andrea McGregor said participants would be taken out on the water in boats skippered and crewed by professionals.
There will also be an opportunity to see how the rescue boat operates.
Ms McGregor said that with the club being a family-orientated club, the Discover Sailing event would make a fun day out for families.
Sailing was a good sport for meeting new people, she said, a disciplined sport, relaxing, and an activity that was great for kids.
“It’s an inexpensive, family, healthy exercise,” Ms McGregor said.
People of all ages and abilities are invited to attend the event.
The Discover Sailing day will include a free lunch and will run from 10am to 3pm at Bendigo Yacht Club at 45 Sunset Drive.
There will also be entertainment on the day.
All boats and safety equipment will be provided by the club.
Bendigo Yacht Club will also open to the public on its race days the following two Saturdays.
