Two of Bendigo’s most promising soccer players will embark on a trip of a lifetime to Europe next week.

Bendigo City FC duo Luke Burns and Connor Hicks have been selected to play for the Melbourne Football Stars in a six-game tour that will take in Scotland, England, Holland and Germany.
Burns and Hicks are the only two regional players to make the under-18 aged squad.
The tour will include matches against Aberdeen in Scotland, the Starbridge Sports Football Academy in England, Feyenoord in Holland and Viktoria Aschaffenburg in Germany.
“It’s going to be a great to get a feel what a professional career is like,’’ Burns said.
“It’s a great opportunity.”
Burns will play as a right winger for the Stars, while Hicks will play as a central defender.
“I’ve been getting butterflies all week. It’s pretty exciting,’’ Hicks said.
“I can’t wait to get over there.”
The Melbourne Football Stars will train and at St George’s Park in England which is the home of English football’s international complex.
In Holland, the squad will spend a day training under the AJAX FC Academy coaches.
The squad will also get the opportunity to watch Scottish Premier League matches as well as attend the EPL clash between Manchester City and West Ham.
