EXPECT to see people wearing loud shirts in Hargreaves Mall today, as Australian Hearing rallies support for deaf children.
The ‘Get loud to support deaf kids’ initiative runs from 11am – 4pm, and includes opportunities for free hearing checks.
The Australian Hearing Bus will be parked in the mall throughout the festivities to perform the tests.
Lions Club of Bendigo members will assist by running a sausage sizzle from 11.30am – 1.30pm.
There will also be a raffle.
Funds raised will support programs helping children with hearing loss experience sound and develop speech.
Australian Hearing has encouraged people to wear their brightest clothes to show their support for the cause.
The organisation is the nation’s largest provider of government-funded hearing services.
One in six Australians are affected by hearing loss, according to the Australian Network on Disability.
By 2050, hearing loss is expected to affect one in four Australians.
