Monash Tigers too good for Northcote in Premier Cricket QEO clash

THE Monash Tigers squared their Premier Cricket ledger at 3-3 after defeating Northcote by three wickets in Saturday’s day-night match at the QEO.

Northcote compiled 233 off its 50 overs batting first after winning the toss.

The innings featured an 88-run opening partnership between Lindsay Hassett (68) and captain Steven Taylor (52).

All-rounder Dom Matarazzo was the leading wicket-taker for the Tigers with 4-56 off nine overs.

The Tigers answered with 7-234, winning in the 49th over, with opener Adam Amin top-scoring with 77.

In his return to Bendigo, Tigers’ No.3 Andrew Chalkley made 29 before getting caught behind.

Chalkey’s 29 earned another $174 for Autism organisation Lend a Hand To Hugo, who he is raising money for per run ($6) this season.
