Rogowska, who won in Canberra last week, saw off Tammi Patterson in the Bendigo International quarter-finals on Friday to set up a semi-final clash with giant-killer Abigail Tere-Apisah.

Rogowska only conceded six games in her first two round wins and that form continued on Friday.

She won the first set against Patterson 6-4 and was leading 3-2 in the second set when Patterson was forced to retire.

Tere-Apisah couldn’t have been more impressive in defeating top seed Arina Rodionova 6-2, 6-1.

The 25-year-old is chasing her maiden singles title win.

Slovakia’s Tamara Zidansek is the highest-ranked player in the semi-finals.

The number four seed will play Japan’s Mai Minokoshi in Saturday’s semi-finals.

Zidansek, ranked 187 in the world, proved too consistent for Australian seventh-seed Isabelle Wallace in the quarter-finals.

Zidansek took the honours 6-3, 6-4 in a little over an hour.

For the second match in a row, Minokoshi rallied from a set down to score a gutsy victory.

This time her victim was young Queenslander Sara Tomic.

Tomic looked rock solid as she secured the first set 6-4, but the longer the match went the better Minokoshi played.

The Japanese young gun raced through the second set 6-1 and secured victory when she won the decider 6-3.

The semi-finals start from 12.30pm on Saturday, with the final to be played on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Prep students at Golden Square Primary School were presented with a new tennis racquet each on Friday as part of Tennis Australia’s ANZ Hot Shots program.

Bendigo International players Priscilla Hon and Julia Glushko visited the school to help hand out the racquets and take the students through a tennis clinic.

Hon, from Queensland, and Glushko, from Israel, also answered some hard-hitting questions from the students about their playing careers.
