About 300 rowers from 19 clubs will compete in 65 races during the regatta.
The regatta marks the return of competitive rowing to Lake Weeroona after the successful removal of aquatic weeds which had effectively choked the lake.
“Thanks to the efforts of the City of Greater Bendigo, Lake Weeroona is once again in prime condition for rowing and we are expecting some quick times across our short course,’’ Bendigo Rowing Club president Peter Morison said.
Meaghan Lowndes is one of the leading Bendigo chances.
Lowndes will compete in the women’s single scull.
Other Bendigo rowers to watch include Indiana Crome, Neve Coleman, Mikhayla Oxley and Amy Morgan.
The Bendigo Sprint Rowing Regatta starts at 8am.
